Not so long ago, there were a lot of corporate subscribers using USB Internet Sticks to connect their notebooks to the Internet. In many cases, this was to provide convenience to the end user plus a dedicated plan just for their computer as the mobile device data plans were not nearly as generous as they are now. Fast forward to today, we are seeing a lot of these devices but their usage has declined significantly with many sitting idle for months. Smartphone data plans are getting larger and larger and many tasks that were done using an internet browser on a computer are now completed using a mobile app. Since the current data plans are getting larger and larger, there is less risk of a huge “tethering” bill relative to a few years ago. So there could be an opportunity to reduce or eliminate those Internet Sticks resulting in fewer devices to manage and a lower carrier bill.
